Standard Placement of Pre-Defined Support Frames

To place a pre-defined Support Frame, a standard procedure is used for most of the available components.

Note: OpenPlant Support Engineering components all share a common Properties Dialog .
  1. Select a support option from the tool drawer.
  2. Select the piping component to be supported.

Reset to opt for the Free Placement method.

    The Properties dialog opens.

  3. When attaching to a structure, select the Steel to connect the support to.
Note: When selecting both the pipe and structure to attach to, OPSE will automatically stretch the support and connect to the structure using the options defined in the Properties dialog.
  4. In the Properties dialog, select the specific component type from those provided in the Standard/Catalog drop list.
  5. Define additional properties for the component as necessary (See the placement options for the different support types).
  6. Use either the mouse, or the Path Placement Dialog to determine the precise location and rotation for the component.
Note: For component placed using the Stretch Method for placement, the Stretch dialog is displayed instead of the Path Placement dialog.
Note: While placing OpenPlant Support Engineering supports, you are using referenced piping/structural/equipment models to help determine the location of the support component. Click Here for additional information on attaching the referenced model(s).
